Rev. Dr. Kerry Allison
The Reverend Dr. Kerry Allison is an ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) whose pastoral vocation spans more than four decades of distinguished service in urban ministry, global mission, church renewal, and theological education.
Dr. Allison currently serves as Senior Pastor of Christ United Presbyterian Church in San Diego, California, where he provides visionary leadership rooted in the historic African American preaching tradition and a deep commitment to justice, discipleship, and congregational renewal. His ministry has carried him far beyond the local church — into underserved urban communities, university classrooms, and cross-cultural settings across four continents, including sustained ministry partnerships in Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, India, Nepal, and Mexico.
A gifted preacher, scholar, and practitioner, Dr. Allison serves as Preaching Columnist for Call to Worship: Liturgy, Music, Preaching, and the Arts, the journal of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). He is the founder of the Praxis Prayer Movement and host of the Prayer & Policy podcast, through which he integrates contemplative spirituality with prophetic civic engagement. He holds the Doctor of Ministry and Master of Divinity degrees and has served with distinction as a university professor, equipping emerging leaders in theology, homiletics, and ministerial formation.
Throughout his career, Dr. Allison has demonstrated an unwavering conviction that the Church fulfills its highest calling when it crosses the boundaries of race, culture, class, and comfort in faithful service to the world. It is a conviction not merely held — but lived.
